Cedar Ridge Tournament Results

Congratulations to the students who represented the 8th grade math team at Cedar Ridge this past weekend.  They earned a 5th place trophy.  Hugh Williams, Reed Jeffries, Patrick Harris, and Jonathan Parris ciphered for the team, earning 52 points!  The students who earned our top 4 written test scores were:  Hugh Williams, Jack Crouch, Reed Jeffries, and Robert Merchant.

I am very proud of the students who attend this tournament and got our season off to a winning start!  GO PATRIOT MATHLETES!!!!!!!

Monday:  Cedar Ridge Tournament test in class.   Homework: Complete the Writing Equations WS #1-18 (wfa on own paper - this was given on Friday)

Tuesday:  Complete the "Translation of Functions" WS

Wednesday:  Interpreting Rate Graphs WS

Thursday:  Step Functions WS

Friday:  NO SCHOOL for students - parent conferences

Homework Week of October 10

Monday:  Calculate the Average Rate of Change and Average Rate of Change (a.k.a. slope) WS #1-15 and #1-3 (wfa on WS)

Tuesday:  Slope Investigation WS  #1-15 (wfa on WS)  All Cedar Ridge paperwork and lunch money are due tomorrow (for those going).

Wednesday:  Analysis of Functions WS #1-12

Thursday:   Study for quiz

Friday:  PreAP Quiz 2.1-2.3  Homework:  Write Equations WS #1-18 (wfa on own paper - this is due Tuesday)

Saturday:  Cedar Ridge Math Tournament.  We will be leaving HMS promptly at 6:30am.  We should return to HMS around 4:00pm.  Students will call or text once we are close to Birmingham if that arrival time changes drastically.

Parents:  Be sure to read my blog from last week concerning how to request conferences with your student's teacher(s).  The deadline to request conferences for October 20th or 21st is Monday, October 17th at 8:00am.

Conference Day Information

Parents, as you know, Conference day is coming up on Thursday, October 20th and Friday October 21st.  To request conferences with you student's teacher(s), you will need to go to this link and complete the google form. Your student will be given this link from their social studies teacher as well.

Deadline for a request is Monday, October 17 by 8:00 A.M.  After this time, you will have to email the teacher(s) directly to schedule a conference.

Wednesday:  Pre-AP Quiz 1.1  Homework:  Exponents WS #1-15 (wfa on own paper)

Friday:  Complete "Walk the Line" WS

Those students going to Cedar Ridge on Saturday, October 15th need to bring signed permission form , $10 exact cash, and health form to me NO LATER THAN, Wednesday, October 12th.
